DNA test for gluten sensitivity that can help you determine the role that your genetics plays in your gluten intolerance or possible celiac disease, as well as recommending the best diet for your unique genetics
Genetic testing can help rule out celiac-related gluten sensitivity. Our Gluten DNA kits test for five traits that may help you determine what role genetics may play in your gluten sensitivity.
DNA Test for Gluten Intolerance:
Genotyping by PCR-based enrichment and next-generation sequencing analyzing 5 traits relating to gluten sensitivity and nutrition*
Personalized DNA results and gluten-free matching diet report based on your genetic gluten testing
Matching diet types are calculated using over 50 SNPs according to a proprietary algorithm. Diet types are calculated and shown as “low carbohydrate, low fat, Mediterranean and balanced diet” phenotype. All diet guidelines are adjusted for a gluten-free diet.
*5 Traits including:
- Your Matching Diet (4 traits):
- Matching diet
- Response to Monosaturated Fats
- Response to Polyunsaturated Fats
- Omega-6 and Omega-3 Levels
- Gluten Sensitivity (Celiac) 1 trait:
- Celiac-related gluten sensitivity

About DNA testing for gluten:
Gluten is a protein found in certain grains including wheat, barley, and rye. Apart from dietary sources, gluten can be found in many consumer products such as medications, vitamins, or lip balms.
Genetic testing can help rule out the possibility of celiac-related gluten sensitivity; making it much more likely that a patient with symptoms would have NCGS.
There are basically two types of gluten sensitivity: celiac disease (CD), and non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS), or non-celiac wheat sensitivity (NCWS). Celiac gluten sensitivity is a digestive disorder that damages the small intestine. CD can cause long-term digestive problems resulting from the wrong absorption of many different nutrients. This condition can develop at any age (but usually in childhood first), and affected individuals primarily benefit from lifelong avoidance of gluten in a diet (PMID 27363231).
Gluten sensitivity is triggered by eating gluten which leads to intestinal symptoms (and sometimes a rash) that generally improve once the gluten-containing foods are removed from the diet.
In genetics, some research can be described as stronger than others. Our gluten DNA test only utilizes scientifically verified genetic information, unlike some at-home genetics companies. With that in mind, we provide a rating system for all our DNA health tests results to ensure you know if the science on that particular finding is extremely strong or just preliminary.
Saliva has small cells in it called lymphocytes, this is what we isolate the DNA from.
OmeGluten genetic reports are scientifically accurate. Our genomics laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), accredited in accordance with the U.S Health and Human Services’ Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and licensed by the California Department of Public Health, thereby assuring you of high quality results. Unlike other laboratories that outsource the actual performance of the laboratory tests and only handle the interpretations and the reporting of the results, we handle the testing, interpretation and reporting from beginning to end. This allows Ome Wellness better control over the research, testing, pricing and security.
Insurance coverage is dependent on the type of test ordered, and who the insurance carrier is (or medicare). We can help with this.
